Our Business

Opened in late 2003, the hostel is run by Lee Whetstone and Cathie O'Brien who moved from Australia to Nova Scotia in 2001.  Lee is originally from Calgary, Alberta and Cathie from Sydney, Australia.  

Seeing the need for more hostel style accommodation in Nova Scotia they decided to buy a circa 1880's former sea merchant's house.  The interior was modernised and renovated whilst attempting to retain as much of the character and charm of the original architecture as possible - including the fantastic curved wooden staircase leading to the bedrooms.  The cupola (or "widow's peak" is still located on the roof and offers extensive views across the harbour. 

Catering to single travellers, couples, groups and families, age is no restriction and our youngest traveller to date was only a few months old and our oldest in her 80's!

Offering comfortable accommodation at a price that won't break the bank.  Choose from either a shared dormitory room (co-ed), twin room, private double or single room.  There are full kitchen facilities, BBQ, a TV room with games & books, two share bathrooms, internet access, parking, bike storage, large garden and a sun deck.  Linen and blankets are included in the room cost.
